Work on the N358 starts again! From Monday 25 February the shovel will be in the ground again at the N358.
The province of Fryslân is busy in several places at the same time. We will work at the intersection Wierum-Hantumhuizen and Niawier-Oosternijkerk. Contractor Oosterhof Holman will also work at Holwerd. In Holwerd, at the crossroads of the Grândyk (N356) and the Fiskwei (N358), we make a left-hand lane. Via this left-hand lane the traffic will sort towards the Fiskwei later on. Traffic in the direction of Hallum can continue to drive smoothly. The road from Holwerd to Ternaard is also in need of major maintenance. We restreet the Fiskwei and the Ternaarderdyk into Drieboerehuizen.
Work Holwerd
The road from the harbour near Holwerd is sometimes very busy. Many cars leave simultaneously from the boat and the parking lot. They drive from the provincial road N356 (the Grândyk). Because of the busy traffic at the exit to the Fiskwei (the N358) often gets stuck.
At the crossroads of the Grândyk (N356) and the Fiskwei (N358), we turn left. Via this left-hand lane the traffic will sort towards the Fiskwei later on. Traffic towards Hallum can continue as fast as this. We also merge the footpath and bike path. In addition, the pavement in Holwerd on the N358 is also in need of maintenance. The Fiskwei and Ternaarderdyk will therefore be paved again in the period from mid-April to the end of May. This way this road can be used safely again in the coming years.
Nuisance Grândyk-Fiskwei intersection
We have already constructed the cycle path from the Grândyk (N356) and Fiskwei (N358) intersection to the Nieuwe Zeedijk. At the moment we build the bike path from the roundabout at Holwerd to the intersection Grândyk and Fiskwei, there is a detour for cyclists through the village.
For the construction of the left section at the Grândyk/Fiskwei intersection, the intersection closes for a maximum of three days. The traffic will then be diverted via the Ternaarderdyk/Drieboerehuizen/Grândyk.
Nuisance major maintenance
To be able to restreet the N358 in Holwerd, we close the road for six weeks. Residents and guests of Vakantiehuisje Smoek can simply come home, because the parallel road remains open.
Traffic from Ferwert and from Ameland towards Ternaard/Lauwersoog is diverted via Dokkum. Traffic from Groningen/Lauwersoog direction Holwerd is diverted at Metslawier via Dokkum.
Public transport
The work in Holwerd ensures that bus lines 150 and 154 cannot travel via Ternaard for two weeks. Travellers can board the bus in Hantum. All bus lines in Holwerd remain available. More information will be published in the buses and on the Arriva website.
