The poem below was written by one of our guests as an ode to the sculpture “Waiting for High Water” and published on the website of Losser (Overijssel).
The bronze giantess on the dike can be clearly seen from Holiday home Smoek
Impressive, motionless, waking and waiting for high tide
All other concerns are for later
And the farmer? He ploughs on
With the many birds searching for food in his trail
Thunder, lightning, hail and rain
Nothing can stop this strong woman
Soon she’ll get support from another generation
And maybe she’ll lose her adoration
The day before yesterday I had hand contact with her
It didn’t feel weird at all.
As a good family member, I keep an eye on her
This woman will never leave us
Holwerd, you’re in good hands
Now let the other woman land
Hansie
