WAD is the first Dutch nature film about the Wadden Sea area.
Ruben Smit and his crew register this unique Dutch nature reserve and all its special natural phenomena under and above water, in every season. From a holistic approach; everything has to do with everything.
No sequence of beautiful pictures but a clear story with recognizable icons such as the seal, the shelduck and the peregrine falcon. A film that portrays the ecosystem as never before; from the small diatoms at the bottom of the food chain to the peregrine falcon and the grey seal as icons of the mud flats.
With the latest film techniques, timelapses, drones, microphotography and underwater cameras, the crew is able to capture the special nature of the mudflats from all perspectives. The Wadden Sea area is the only Dutch nature reserve with Unesco World Heritage status.
