With the Postcode Lottery Dream Fund contribution of 15 million, Holwerd aan Zee has collected more than half of the 63 million required.
That is why the province of Friesland and quartermasters are currently working together on setting up the project organisation, which will be responsible for the final design, in-depth research, the granting of permits and the start of the implementation.
Before the ‘Projectbureau Holwerd aan Zee’ can get to work, a detailed plan of approach is necessary. This plan of approach is the basis for the cooperation agreement between the facilitating parties. Important points for attention are the contribution per organisation, the division of roles, responsibilities, ownership positions and the management and maintenance after construction.
The project office will officially start in October. Until then, the main focus will be on obtaining financing and further plan development. In addition, we are working on the various subprojects such as Boeren Meten Water, Holwerd Natuurlijk Boeiend en Blooeiend and the Living Lab. Partly at the request of the Provincial Councils, the next phase will also be explored further: the transition of the pier to a green residential area and the sailing connection to Dokkum.
