The FNP divisions will join forces in ANNO (Municipalities of Tytsjerksteradiel, Achtkarspelen, Dantumadiel and Northeast Fryslân). They want to investigate whether it is feasible to organise an international fishing event (EK or World Cup) in the North-East Friesland region.

Fishing is becoming increasingly popular and the Dutch Fishermen’s Union has more than half a million members. Many international fishing competitions have already been organised and fishing is also an Olympic sport.

Northeast Friesland has ideal freshwater ports with an excellent fishing position and is therefore very suitable for such competitions. These multi-day events attract many enthusiasts to the area. “So a great opportunity to promote the recreation and tourism sector in the Northeast region. After all, people not only come to fish, but also have to drink, eat, sleep and often come back again,” says spokesman Bert Koonstra. (Source: www.rtvnof.nl)

Sy wolle ûndersykje oft it helber is om in ynternasjonaal fiskerij evenemint (EK of WK) yn regio Noardeast te organisearjen.

It fiskjen wurdt hieltyd populêrder en de Nederlânske fiskbûn telt mear as in heal miljoen leden.
